The Jersey Wildcats would like to congratulate alumni Glenn Gayet on his recent commitment to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN.Gayet has impressed during his time out west with the Edina Lakers in the Minnesota Junior Hockey League. Recently, there was a terrific article about Gayet on the MnJHL website (see below).

Size not an issue for Edina goaltender
At 5-foot-8, 150 pounds, Glenn Gayet doesn’t take up a lot of space between the pipes for the Edina Lakers.
But in the case of Gayet, who came to Edina in November from the Valley Jr. Warriors of the Eastern Junior Hockey League in, looks can be very deceiving.
“He knows he has to be quick because of his size, but he challenges the shooter,” said Edina Lakers head coach Wes Durand. “Glenn is very fit. He’s got a ton of athleticism. Glenn is a solid fundamental goaltender. He’s been a welcome addition and he’s pushed (goalie) Eric Wobschall. He’s really added something special to our team.”
The Boonton, N.J. native has a 4-2 record with the Lakers, saving 166 of the 182 shots he has seen for a .912 save percentage and a 3.12 goals against average.
The 20-year old benefits from extensive experience in his fifth year of junior hockey experience. He says he plays a “patient butterfly” style in net.
“I’d say my quickness and my lateral movement are my two best assets,” Gayet explained. “I have a pretty good technique as a background. I’m pretty technical, but when I need to be an athlete to make a save I can do that.”
Cory Bruski, the Lakers’ newest acquisition who started practicing with the team on Monday, may know Gayet talents best. They played for the Hampton Roads Whalers of the Southeast Junior Hockey League a few years back.
“He’s a really good goalie,” Bruski said. “He’s really good at positioning himself with the puck because he’s a smaller guy. But he can see where the puck is coming from at his angles. He just knows his angles really well, and he’s really quick.”
Since Gayet’s arrival, he and fellow goalie Wobschall have been alternating games, an opportunity Gayet relishes.
“I’m pretty happy with that situation because with three-game weekends, playing one or two games a weekend, you’ve got to stay sharp, and I have solid competition in Eric Wobschall. It’s a good fit.”
Gayet said he chose the Lakers because of their goalie coach Dave Rogalski and playing for Edina allowed him to get exposure to the NCAA teams he wanted to play for.
And recently, Gayet signed to play for Concordia College-Moorhead, a Division III hockey program, where he plans to major in Exercise Science.
“I’m ecstatic about signing with Concordia-Moorhead,” Gayet said. “Concordia is pretty much the perfect fit for me. There are only 3,000 students, and I came from a small high school. The classes aren’t too big. It’s pretty much everything I’m looking for.”
