2010-03-04
The Jersey Wildcats would like to congratulate alumni Johnny Hero on his recent commitment to Westfield State College in Westfield, MA.From the Syracuse Stars website..
The Syracuse Stars added another commitment to their list and Westfield State landed a nice commitment to their school as forward John Hero will be headed to the Owls next season. Coach Scott Montagna is thrilled for John and knows that Westfield just picked up a top end recruit for their program. “Johnny will be a top player for Westfield and someone that they can build their program around for the next 4 years. He battled through a very tough shoulder injury for almost 2 seasons for us but still made our team better whenever he was in the lineup. He brings 100% every time he comes to the rink. Johnny is a team first player who is a character guy. Coach Miele and his staff at Westfield State are getting a guy who can play in all situations. PP, PK and he will make his line mates better. He is the type of player that every coach wants in their locker room. I am very happy for him and know he will do great things there. I have truly enjoyed coaching him and know that he is a young man that will thrive at the next level. He is a player that I will definitely miss seeing at the rink everyday.”
John came to the Stars after winning Player of the Year honors in the Empire League with the Jersey Wildcats. The Hopatcong, NJ native is the son of John and Janice Hero. Johnny wanted to thank the Stars coaching staff for all of their guidance in Syracuse. He especially wanted to thank his Mom and Dad and brother Adam for all of their support.
